Impact films / CSR / Last mile

Films from the last mile.

We make impact films for CSR programmes and the foundations that run them. Usually in places where the footage is limited, the location is hours from anywhere, and the story has to work for a startup, a donor and a foundation at the same time.

Behind the type: the S&P Global x Nasscom Foundation impact series, opening sequence

The brief we usually get

Low resource, high stakes.

Between 2024 and 2025 we produced a run of impact films for Nasscom Foundation, covering programmes funded by S&P Global, Adobe and Siemens. The subjects were health and tech startups working where India's systems thin out: island clinics in Lakshadweep, maternal care in rural Maharashtra, cervical cancer screening in villages, heart checks in the hills of Uttarakhand.

Most of these shoots came with a short window, a single location and a small crew. One film was built around a single community hall. Another had a short shoot window at a private school. We plan around that before we arrive, so the edit still has room to breathe.

Every film had three audiences to satisfy. The startup wants its work shown honestly. The donor wants to see where the money went. The foundation wants its role in the middle of it to be clear. Getting that balance right is most of the job.

This work sits apart from what we make for our brand clients in Australia. We take on a few of these films each year because it is the work our team cares most about, and our way of backing the people building India's social innovation ecosystem.

Arogyam

  • Lakshadweep
  • Telemedicine
  • 2024

In Lakshadweep, a specialist opinion can mean a sea crossing to the mainland. Arogyam connects island patients to doctors through telemedicine. We told the story of how a small team is closing that distance, and how CSR support helped it scale.

Sunfox

  • Uttarakhand
  • Portable ECG
  • 2025

Heart disease in remote India often goes unnoticed until it is too late. Sunfox built a portable ECG that lets health workers check a heart without a hospital setup. A long-format impact film on what early detection looks like far from the city.

Periwinkle

  • Rural Maharashtra
  • AI screening
  • 2024 to 2025

In India, cervical cancer claims a woman's life roughly every eight minutes, and most of those deaths are preventable with early screening. Periwinkle uses AI to bring that screening to villages that never had it. Delivered as a social cut and a long-form YouTube film.

SaveMom

  • Dhule and Latur
  • Maternal care
  • 2024

SaveMom, built by Jiovio Healthcare, monitors expecting mothers in rural districts and flags risks early, so care arrives before it becomes an emergency. A short case study film made for social, built from field interviews.

The exception

When the conditions are good.

Not every CSR job is a field shoot. This one shows what we do with a schedule, mains power and room for a lighting setup.

TechForSociety Hackathon 2025

  • Bangalore
  • Event film
  • April 2025

Two days in Bangalore with a published schedule and a venue we could light properly. We knew where everyone would be and we carried the kit we wanted, so the picture quality sits well above what a field shoot allows.

What that buys is turnaround. We worked alongside the Siemens and Nasscom Foundation comms teams across both days, handed over stills and social assets while the event was still running, and delivered the final film three days after it wrapped.

40 teams, around 150 students from government engineering colleges across India, two days to present prototypes built over a three-month mentoring programme. 15 teams went through to the MVP phase. We delivered the highlight film, two social cuts and over 50 edited leadership and mentor clips.

In their words

“Fasil turned complex CSR programmes across Adobe, S&P Global and Siemens into stories that served the startup, donor and Foundation alike. He picks up tech fast and works with structure.”

Process

How a CSR film gets made.

The same five steps every time, because the constraints are usually the same.

A Fivesquare interview question sheet on a clipboard and a team handbook, photographed on location

Brief around three audiences

Before the handbook is written, we agree what the startup, the donor and the foundation each need from the film. Most revision rounds come from skipping this step.

One handbook, everyone has a copy

Before anyone travels we build a handbook: the interview questions, the startup's background and the trivia each person needs on the day. The crew and the foundation's comms team both get it, so everyone arrives knowing the same things and nobody is working it out in front of a beneficiary. Branding, partner logos, subtitle style and name titles are signed off in the same pass, so they don't come back as notes later.

Plan for thin footage

Field shoots in low-resource locations are short. We plan the shot list around what one location and a few hours can give us, and use remote interviews for founders and leaders who cannot be on site.

Small crew, full kit

A two-person crew covers camera, sound, gimbal and lighting. We carry what we need and don't rely on anything at the location.

One shoot, many outputs

A single field trip becomes a long-form film, short social cuts, labelled interview clips and raw files on a drive, so the foundation and the donor both have material for months.

Scope

What we can make for you.

  • Impact films and case study documentaries, 3 to 12 minutes
  • Short social cuts for LinkedIn and Instagram, 30 to 90 seconds
  • Event coverage for donor events, hackathons and conferences
  • Remote founder and stakeholder interviews
  • Interview and question design for impact storytelling
  • Raw footage libraries, organised for comms teams to reuse

Got a programme that needs to be seen?

If you run CSR, a foundation, or a social impact programme and need films that show the work properly, we'd like to hear about it. We only take on a handful each year, so we'll tell you early if we're the right fit. We're based in Bengaluru and travel wherever the story is.
